The Dark Side of the Law

There is no Dark Side of the Law. It’s all Dark.

Music--"Take Care, Take Care, Take Care" by Explosions in the Sky

Their latest album came out Tuesday. If you like this specifically or post-rock generally, it is less than six bucks at Amazon MP3. This is the third album od theirs I have purchased, and I can honestly say I do not have anything else like the music they make.

25 Songs in 25 Days: Day 25 - A Song You Could Listen to All Day Without Getting Tired Of

"Down By The River" - Neil Young

The best way for me to hear this song is on a blistering summer day, meandering through traffic, windows down, floor A/C on, cold beverage with condensation beads rolling down the sides in the drink holder. That being said, this is just a magnificent song that I can hear again and again and again. Maybe it is the minimalist one-note beginning to the first guitar solo. Maybe it is the rawness of the garage band-esque sound (Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere is my favorite Neil Young Album, with or without Crazy Horse; Freedom is an extremely close second). Maybe it is remembering when and where I first realized that the song had nothing to do with killing a woman. Whatever the reasons, I could put this on replay for 24 hours. In fact, I think I have, once upon a time.
