The Dark Side of the Law

There is no Dark Side of the Law. It’s all Dark.

25 Songs in 25 Days: Day 16 - A Song That has Made You Cry

"Everything Beautiful Must Die" - The Soundtrack of Our Lives

Pretty self explanatory choice here, if you have read my recent posts.

Let me be clear--and this is not meant to be a display of machismo--but I am not a big crier. I did not cry whe my grandmother or great aunt died. Not a tear. And I was very close to both of them. I did not cry when my dumbass cousin took a Joplin-esque hot shot in the vein less than four hours after getting out of jail. I did not cry during 9/11. I did not cry during the infamous Bartman game. I did not cry when I graduated high school, college or law school. But last Friday I cried probably more than I have cried in the past 20 years combined.

While I was writing this post I had this song on loop (related: anyone remember the days of cartes at the college radio stations?) as I constantly wiped the tears from my eyes and I fought through the sobbing to finish the writing. So I could not say for certain that this song was one that made me cry. And then I kept listening to this song all weekend. And I cried. So, regardless of genesis, the three are forever linked.

I wanna lay myself to sleep
I wanna lay myself to sleep
Forget about the love
That burns my soul
